I arrived back home after 2 years away... went on a little holiday with my family to Yorkshire and somehow I bump into @al_humphreys the man who inspired my journey to Tokyo and made me realise a cheap long distance bike trip through all seasons was actually possible... I was a little lost for words and still am. Thank you so much! It’s good to be home.

Tokyo!!! After 15 months and 17745km I have finally arrived on my birthday. It’s been an incredible life changing experience that I think I’ll be absorbing for the rest of my days. The most difficult and best decision I have ever made. The hardest part was the first mile. I hope I’ve inspired some people along the way to be more adventurous and that I’ve shown a better version of the world than we see in the media. I hope I’ve shown that 99% of people are good and that the 1% generally aren’t interested in you. Although it’s been a solo journey and sometimes I felt lonely, I never truly felt alone, the people I met were all routing for me as soon as they heard my story or even just saw me on my bike. The amount of kindness I have experienced is unbelievable and has often shocked me. Now it’s time to help those who truly need it, the young people people and families of the two amazing charities I’m fundraising for, clicsargent and hopeandhomesforchildren The link is in my bio. On my #birthday and my last #morning before I rode into central #Tokyo this very young looking 80 year old man Tadou Kobayashi saw me in the park after I woke up. He invited me for #tea at his house, gave me breakfast and played me happy birthday on his violin.
